Stage 2: Clipping

Clipping can be one of the most stressful parts of a horse’s care routine — but it doesn’t have to be. In this series, we break down our approach to building confidence with clippers step by step, from introducing the sound and vibration in a way that feels safe, to working through the trickier, more sensitive areas like the face, legs, and belly. The focus is always on relaxation, communication, and consent — teaching horses how to process what’s happening and stay regulated rather than simply tolerating the experience. Alongside the theory, you’ll find real case studies showing different horses being clipped in practice, demonstrating how small, thoughtful sessions can transform clipping from a battle into a calm, collaborative process.
