Case Studies : Shamus

Shamus arrived with a complex story. Bought in January 2025 and described as a beginner-friendly horse, he quickly showed challenging behaviours: biting, charging, barging when led, and tension around people — though he remained safe and unflappable under saddle. His defensiveness, impatience, and difficulty regulating suggest deeper layers at play. Shamus is here so we can explore whether his behaviour stems from gaps in understanding, missing education, or discomfort in his body — or a combination of all three. Through careful assessment and progressive work, our goal is to unravel the root causes and help him build confidence, clarity, and a more positive partnership with his new owner.
