Ever since I was little I wanted to be an eventer. But the only horses I had access to were barely able to confidently hack. I couldn't afford a horse, so I rode the horses that no one else wanted. The more I spent time with the 'complicated' ones, the 'dangerous' or 'excited' horses, the more I realised that these horses were just not understood. So I took a new path, I found people who could understand these horses and took a 2o year journey to learn about horse psychology from the best people I could find.

I have worked with thousands of riders and horses to help them better understand their horses, solving problems and achieving the things they dreamed of doing. At home in our barn in Oxfordshire we start horses under saddle, train and rehabilitate horses, often examining the fine line between pain and behavioural problems.

It is in our barn I have been developing a programme that I use with every horse and rider. From baby to Grand Prix, hacker to eventer. A whole horse approach to training, that focuses on building the two things that matter most for every horse:

My Foundation Programme is split in to 3 stages. Each stage is made up of all of the elements that I consider vital for any horses to have a solid base. A horse who has mastered these components is a great all rounder; able to move in to any discipline and move through life confidently. This programme is how I start young horses under saddle, and restart an older horse who has a problem. I use it to fill in and refine any gaps in a horses education and to build a structured approach to goals.

We see so many people who have problems that range in size and complexity. We have been fortunate to work with some of the best professionals in the world to explore the lines between pain and behaviour. This toolkit helps you to work out - where a problem is coming from (normally from a missing piece of the foundation!) and what to do to solve it.

My popular transformations are a great way to take your horse from A to B in a structured, fun way, over a specified time period. Ranging from a few days to 12 weeks, our transformations focus on a range of topics including strength building, developing confidence & deepening your relationship. You can take part in previous transformations at your own pace or join one of the live transformations running throughout the year. A great way to work alongside other members, with webinars, check ins, community conversations and, often, live demonstrations at our base in Oxfordshire.

A lot of people ask me for a recording of a lesson. My ride along audios are individual sessions that you can listen to as you work with your horse. Whether you want some help with your flatwork, inspiration for your groundwork, a supporting voice whilst you hack or to be guided through relaxing your horse, there are a selection of different lengths and subjects to chose from. Updated constantly, this is a great way to have me with you as you work and take the worry out of remembering what to do when working with your horse!

Matt & I run a training barn in Oxfordshire. Our barn has a range of really interesting horses passing through it all the time, from babies having their first ride, to horses rehabilitating from injury, those needing help overcoming extreme behaviour or diagnosing pain. When clients come to train, they quickly become invested in every horses story. This is a way for you to follow the horses journeys, where we will document key case studies as they get help to return to their normal lives.

Our community is full of amazing and welcoming people who want to better understand their horse, be challenged, explore different views of training and not get stuck in one church. We run challenges and transformations online, as well as online Q&A's.

One of the main areas of my work has been to diagnose and solve behavioural problems. Our barn has become a centre for extremely complex cases, with referals from veterinary centres and trainers across the UK.

So many clients who come to our barn, on clinics, with their own horse for training or for lessons are always excited to hear how some of the horses staying with us are progressing. They, like us, are facinated to see where the root cause of a behaviour is coming from, or how we can convince a baby not only to accept a rider but to move freely, confidently and positively with a rider on for the first time.

To help you get used to the programme we have made this little guide to walk you through each element of it.

This platform is built on my foundation programme. All horses I work with go through this programme. It is split in to 3 levels and any problem can be traced back to an element in this programme.

It's how I structure all of my training sessions and plans.
Level 1 - Focuses on the mind

Level 2 - Focuses on the body

Level 3 - Focuses on the activities you want to do together

The first level focuses on connecting with and understanding your horse. Working through this will deepen your relationship and create important boundaries for you and your partner.

Split in to lectures and exercises. The Lectures help you understand horse psychology and the ‘why’ of what we do. The exercises focus on the basics of safety and connecting to a horse of any age or level.

This level focuses on all of the key movements that combined make up the goals for level 3. Without them the goals and activities we want to do will be harder for you and your horse.

You can work through these movements in preparation for a specific goal or as part of helping your horse better connect with it’s body and your aids; building suppleness and softening the nervous system.

The 20 activities that create a well rounded horse. You can work through these in order (particularly good with young horses), or pick a goal and work on it. Either to learn a new skill or refine existing ones.

A collection of recorded training guides for you to listen to as you work your horse. This can be great for ideas and quick plans. Ride with me to coach you through confidence building, or, specific riding & ground work training.

The foundation is about preparing and training your horse to understand the activities that make up their lives. The transformations are about having fun and doing the things you bought your horse for in the first place!

Examine your horses behaviour and a series of questions to find out:
1. Is the problem pain, behaviour, or, rider or horse missing skills?
2. What part of the foundation is needed to resolve the problem.
